Hello, and welcome to my site. As well as finding out about specific works, you can contact me, find my bio and some articles I've written, buy some books (see the individual project pages), and see my recent news.

Upcoming

Where I'll be:

June 1, 2017: The annual gathering of the Women's Caucus of the Playwrights Guild of Canada. I'm on the steering committee for the Women's Caucus, including this lively and free event. The theme this year is Getting Theatres on Board: Because It's 2017! You can participate in person or online by signing up here. (Toronto, Ontario)

June 4-11, 2017: The first of what will probably be a few trips to China to research Salesman in China: see below. (Beijing, China)

June 13-23, 2017: With Rébecca Déraspe at the Glassco Translation Residency, to translate her play Gametes (Tadoussac, Québec)

Sept. 11-12, 2017: Directing a workshop and reading of Natalie Frijia's Go No Go – the story of 13 barrier-breaking pilots who in 1961 petitioned NASA to become the first female astronauts – as part of Ruby Slippers Theatre's Advance Series of new works by women. (Vancouver, BC)

Over the next three years, Jovanni Sy and I will be part of the Associates at the Playwrights Theatre Centre, working together on a new play, Salesman in China. (Vancouver, BC)

Where you can see my work:

Sept. 21-Oct. 8, 2017: The Great Canadian Theatre Company premieres my translation of Rébecca Déraspe's You Are Happy, directed by Adrienne Wong (Ottawa, ON)

Mar. 15-24, 2018: Ruby Slippers Theatre and the Gateway Theatre premiere my translation of Catherine Léger's I Lost My Husband, directed by Diane Brown (Vancouver, BC)

London's Olivier-Award-winning OperaUpClose is currently touring Ulla's Odyssey, (which I co-wrote with Anthony Young). Thanks to the largest grant in the company's history, it is being accompanied by educational workshops that are helping introduce 4,000 children to opera. (Touring the UK)
July 9, 2017: Cotswold Playhouse (Stroud, UK)

After five years and more than 550 performances, acclaimed Théâtre Motus continues to tour its Dora Award-winning production of Hélène Ducharme's Baobab (which I translated into English) . Tour schedule is here. (Throughout Europe, North America, and, currently, China)

My plays and translations are published by Talonbooks Ltd. and Playwrights Canada Press. Unpublished works, including libretti, are available through the Playwrights Guild of Canada or CEAD... or by contacting me directly.
